October OwlCrate: Find Me In The Forest

SAM_2475.JPG

The theme of the October OwlCrate box was "Find Me In The Forest," and it promised items for several popular fandoms, all evoking an autumnal mood. I think they absolutely nailed it, which is such a pleasant surprise because I felt as though the contents of the last few boxes have been just "meh."

OwlCrate is a monthly book subscription service that delivers one newly released YA hardcover book as well as 3-5 high quality bookish items. Boxes cost $29.99 (plus shipping). Let's see what was included! Note: All prices listed below are in USD.

Magnetic Bookmarks, Craftedvan - $4.75 (based on similar items)

These are inspired by Where the Wild Things Are! I do like my magnetic bookmarks, though I mostly use them for decoration. This is a very cute set!

Coaster, Kristin Askland - est. $5

This coaster features an exclusive design by Kristin Askland and I absolutely love it! The top of the coaster is a smooth matte and the underside is cork. I've already started using this festive fall accessory!

Art Print, Audra Auclair - est $10

This beautiful print inspired by Princess Mononoke is going straight up on my wall! It's my favorite Studio Ghibli movie.

Candle, In the Wick of Time - $4

In the Wick of Time's candles always impress me and their Cabeswater candle is no exception. It's inspired by The Raven Cycle and smells distinctively fresh, with masculine notes.

Mug, Cara Kozik - est. $9

This is by far my favorite item in the box! This is the first time that OwlCrate has included a mug in their box and this one is beautiful. It features art inspired by the Forbidden Forest. It is dishwasher and microwave-safe.

Loose Leaf Tea, Riddle's Tea Shoppe - $2.50

This is an exclusive tea blend inspired by Sherwood Forest and tastes just like blueberry pie! I am always impressed by Riddle's Tea Shoppe and this sampler is no exception.

Wild Beauty, Anna-Marie McLemore, $12.59

The book in the October OwlCrate is Wild Beauty! It came with an author letter, a beautiful signed bookplate, as well as a packet of seeds to grow my very own magic garden.

GOODREADS SUMMARY:

Love grows such strange things.

For nearly a century, the Nomeolvides women have tended the grounds of La Pradera, the lush estate gardens that enchant guests from around the world. They’ve also hidden a tragic legacy: if they fall in love too deeply, their lovers vanish. But then, after generations of vanishings, a strange boy appears in the gardens.

The boy is a mystery to Estrella, the Nomeolvides girl who finds him, and to her family, but he’s even more a mystery to himself; he knows nothing more about who he is or where he came from than his first name. As Estrella tries to help Fel piece together his unknown past, La Pradera leads them to secrets as dangerous as they are magical in this stunning exploration of love, loss, and family.

Final verdict? The total cost of the October OwlCrate is an estimated $47.84, which far surpasses its price of $29.99 plus shipping. The November theme is Castles, Courts, and Kingdoms. If that sounds interesting, be sure to snag your box now!
